At 2:30 p.m., Appalachian Power Company said 345 Floyd County electric customers remained without power — the only APCO customers in Virginia who still do not have electricity.
The company — for the third straight day — missed its promised deadline for restoring all power in the county. APCO previously promised to have power restored by midnight Thursday, then midnight Friday, and then 2 p.m. today.
Sleet fell overnight in some parts of the county — part of the “wintry mix” forecast in the latest storm — but apparently did not result in an additional power outages.
Electricians report to Blue Ridge Muse that more than 100 homes in Floyd County currently suffer from some broken water pipes frozen during the prolonged power outages.
Floyd County suffered more power outages — and for longer periods — than any other part of the APCO service area.
