Yes, baby, it is cold outside

That crunchy sound underfoot this morning signaled the first frost of the season and perhaps a sign that we will be facing a chilly fall and winter.

The thermometer on the back porch read 35 degrees when I ventured out for a morning constitutional. That's cold for the first of October.

During my ride through the Mt. Rogers recreation area last week, I noticed the leaves already turning. The fall color season arrives here this month along with the chill of an approaching winter.
