Floyd’s Policarpo wins in state wrestling opener

Floyd County High School’s Miguel Policarpo won on points in his opening match of the Virginia High School League 2a Wrestling Championship Friday in the 106 point class at Salem Civic Center.  He advanced to the semi-finals on Saturday.

Jeff Keyton, however, was eliminated with a pin in his first match in the 285 class.

Policarpo and Keyton were the only Floyd wrestlers in tournament matches that began Friday.
