The crowd included a lot of the Friday Night Jamboree regulars who danced, square danced and hooped & hollered a lot during the show on a day of moderate temperatures and no rain.
On a night where music was the feature not only at The Floyd Country Store but also at Dogtown Roadhouse and the Wildwood Store, Floyd is also becoming a Saturday night town rather than just the street fair and old time music event on Friday nights.
A writer and photographer from Washington, DC, covered the Friday Night Jamboree this weekend and then headed Saturday night to Sparta, North Carolina, for its Jamboree. A plethora of events celebrating the musical heritage of Southwestern Virginia is now part of a crowded landscape of offerings throughout the area.
And FloydFest arrives in just under two weeks just off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Summer is upon us and there are many choices for music fans from the area and from far away.
