The middle of July passes this weekend and the area heads next week into FloydFest but the weekend brings music, art and more for those looking for things to do.
Art kicks off the events at Hotel Floyd with the Opening Arts Reception at the new gallery space in partnership with The Jacksonville Center for the Arts Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sidra Kaluszka and Shaun Whiteside are featured.
The Bank of Floyd’s Annual Charity Golf Tournament at Great Oaks Country Club tees off at 1:00 p.m. with a shotgun start.
Floyd Artisans are on display in the Community Market Pavilion at 205 South Locust Street from 5 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Friday Night Jamboree begins with the Gospel Hour at 6:30 p.m. at the Country Store with Statement Gospel, followed by dancing and old time music starting at 7:30 p.m. with The Indian Run String Band and The Tune Town Old Time String Band at 9:00 p.m.
Ripejive is on stage at Dogtown Roadhouse at 302 South Locust Street at 8:00 p.m.
Woodbury Restaurant and Bar offers up Karaoke Friday at 182 Woodberry Lane at 8:00 too.
Saturday opens with Floyd Farmer’s Market from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Community Pavilion at 201 South Locust Street.
At Harvest Moon at 227 North Market Street, Market at the Mountain runs from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Americana Afternoon at the Floyd Country Store brings music from noon to 3:00 p.m. Jim Crandall, a singer-songwriter from Whitefish, Montana who moved to Bluefield, WV, offers “American Folkage” at noon. Pulaski rocker Bradley Steele plays at 1:15 p.m. and Kimberly Dawn offers her country and gospel music at 2:00 p.m.
Windfall comes to the Oak Grove Pavilion stage at 365 Needmore Lane at 7:00 p.m.
At Wildwood General Store at 2380 Floyd Highway South, the Buckstankle Bluegrass Boys offer up their music starting at 7:05 p.m.
The Revelers offer cajun,swamp and pop music and on stage at The Floyd Country Store at 8:00 p.m.
Scott Perry & Front Porch Swing bring blues, jazz, honky tonk and rock & roll to Dogtown Roadhouse at 8:00 p.m.
Sunday brings classic cars to town with a Cruise-In from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. to Wildwood Farms General Store.
Music jams begin at The Floyd Country Store from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Old-Time Music hosted by Mac Traynham at 1:30 and Bluegrass at 4:00 with Ben Silcox at the helm.
Wildwood Farms also hosts a music jam at their Pickin Porch from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. with Sue Nester bringing up local musicians.
Sunday evening ends with Open Mic at Dogtown from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
