Songwriters presented their compositions to the Americana Afternoon stage on a Saturday and the show was about the only thing around in an afternoon when several businesses closed in anticipation of a storm that never came.
Hoisted by Britt Mistele, the participants included David Simkins, mike Pearrell, Mike Franke, Larry Sakayama and Kathy Acosta and those who dropped by for food and music heard an excellent collection of songs from the area’ s local talent.
More music can be found Sunday at the Country Store with an old time music jam, hosted by Mac Traynham at 1:30 p.m. and bluegrass jam hosted by Ben Silcox at 4:00 p.m. Wildwood Farms General Store also hosts a jam Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Plus, Dogtown Roadhouse hosts Open Mic at 7:00 p.m.
The weather comes and goes but music lives on in the hills and Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia.
May the hills remain alive with the sound of music.
