Floyd County High School’s varsity ladies Buffaloes took on defending Class 1 state champion Parry McCluer Fighting Blues for the season opener Thursday night and took the win in overtime 66-62 in a thrilling match/
With Aimee Whitlow and Abi Belshan adding 11 points in the extra period and Michaela tallying 18 for the overall game, the Lady Buffs proved themselves strong contenders.
Whitelow and Belshan finished the night with 11 points each.
Floyd trailed the Blues 31-24 at the half but outscored Parry McCluer in the third quarter 14-6 in the third and 14-13 in the fourth, ending regulation in a tie and then dropped 14 points in for the fourth to 10 for the Blues to take the win.
The JV Lady Buffs won as well.
