Fans of old time traditional and bluegrass music gather each Sunday afternoon for a long and enjoyable jam session of musicians and impromptu dancers at The Floyd Country Store.
The store’s internationally-known Friday Night Jamboree in the 1960s and 70s at what was then Cockram’s General Store began with jam sessions around a wood burning store.
Those jam sessions continue on Locust Street on Friday nights as a full house enjoys the Jamboree inside the County Store and that growth sparked the Sunday afternoon jam sessions.
Music, it is said, is the soul of Floyd County. At jam sessions, it is easy to see why.
