
Kaleb Thomas hit a solo home run Wednesday in the Floyd County High Schools Buffaloes match against Auburn but that was the only run scored by the Buffs as they fell 7-1 against the visitors.
In the fourth inning, Auburn broke a 1-1 tie after loading the bases and a double brought two runs home and Buffaloes remained scoreless for the rest of the game.
Up on the softball field, Auburn’s Emily Skaggs broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run homer. The Lady Buffs’s Tiara Reed had three hits, scored a run and drove in another one while Amy Whitlow and Caroline Hals added two RBIs each but Auburn overpowered Floyd with a 15-7 win.
The Lady Buffs face Christiansburg Thursday in a home match that starts at 5 pm while the Buffaloes varsity baseball squad is on the road to C-Burg for their game.
