The start of school daze in Floyd County

First day of school, on just 13 days into August, brought both smiles and frowns from students heading into Floyd County High School and the elementary school.

School buses and parents brought kids to school and were met by a reception line that included principal Barry Hollandsworth, the assistant principals and teachers, directing them to go first to home room before first period classes.

Let the school year begin.

Some were smiling on the first day.
Up in the morning and off to school at Floyd Elementary.
