Little Diva and the G Strings

Coffee shop owner and singer Sally Walker was a local fixture when we came to Floyd. We miss her coffee and her concerts.

Those of us who love good coffee, not the bitter Starbucks crap, fondly remember Sally Walker’s Café del Sol coffee shop in the corner spot, of the Winter Sun on Locust Street. Dogtown Pizza now calls that space home.

They had good local coffee, tasty food, local Wi-Fi and a spot for entertainment.

I also remember her sultry voice on local stages like Oak Grove Pavilion. She called group Little Diva and the G Strings. The lady can sing. I ran into her and her husband a few months back at Food Lion.

The video above shows Sally singing Ray Charles’ “Roll With My Baby” in one of her one of her concerts at Oak Grove in July of 2006. She performed at several spots in the area and in other communities.

Nice lady, great voice and with a commanding stage presence.
