FloydFest 26 kicks off Wednesday with high hopes and a cancellation of a featured act because of appendix surgery.

A message from the Tedeschi Trucks Band laid out the bad news:

At this time, the Tedeschi Trucks family is in the hearts and minds of the FloydFest Family. We extend our sincerest wishes for a thorough and speedy recovery, and we look forward to welcoming them to FloydFest, hopefully soon.

We will soon announce replacement programming for Friday night of FloydFest 26~Daydream.

We know this news is deeply disappointing to many of our patrons. Tedeschi Trucks Band has long been one of the most anticipated performances of FloydFest 26~Daydream, and we share in your disappointment. We also know our community will join us in sending love, support and understanding during this difficult time.

Thank you for your compassion, and for continuing to embody the spirit of the FloydFest Family.

The band had to cancel both FloydFest and Newport Folk Festival.

FloydFest organizers announced Greensky Bluegrass as the main-stage replacement. The annual festival runs from July 22-26.The festival is set to continue through Sunday at the site near Check.
