As August takes hold for this summer, entertainment venues in and around Floyd offer events for those who want to hear music, play and participate in oldtime music and Bluegrass jams and look for good deals on arts and crafts.

At the Friday Night Jamboree, the Comptons provide gospel music starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by The Locust Street Loafers (above) kicking off two sets of dance music at 7:30.
