Floyd County High School’s Varsity Football team’s string of shutouts came to a stunning end Friday night as Grayson County scored the first points by an opponent this season and then added a late 2-point conversion to win 28-27 at Coach Beale Field.

The Buffaloes had racked up 114 points, including wins in two pre-season scrimmages, in a four game sweep of shutouts, including a 42-0 pasting of Blacksburg before hosting Grayson Friday at home.

Against Grayson County Friday, the Buffs took the lead quickly in the first quarter, scoring to lead 7-0 before Grayson scored later in the quarter. After appearing to score a second touchdown was wiped out by a penalty, the Buffs scored again and lead 14-6 at the end of the first quarter.

After both sides scored later in the game, Grayson scored 16 unanswered points and trailed the Buffaloes 27-20 with 10:22 left in the game. They scored and went for the win with the two-point conversion and then held off the Buffs for the final 10 minutes.

Buffaloes quarterback Noah Underwood threw touchdown passes to Jack LeRoy and JP Dunford and kept the ball to score a third TD. He finished 7-of-10 for 130 yards for the Buffaloes (now 2-1). Aiden Bakely ran for 130 yards on 14 carries. Easton Webster also scored on the ground.

The Buffs host Fort Chiswell next week. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Friday.
